Step 1: Site Assessment and Planning
Every successful installation begins with a thorough assessment of your space. Our team will evaluate your yard to determine the best approach, considering any slopes, existing vegetation, and your preferences. We’ll also help you decide on your new lawn's ideal layout and features.
Step 2: Preparing the Area
The preparation phase involves clearing the area of any existing grass, rocks, or debris. We excavate the ground to create a stable foundation for the turf, which is typically about 2-4 inches deep to ensure enough room for the new base material. Removing any existing organic material is essential to prevent weed growth.
Step 3: Installing the Base Layer
Once the area is cleared, we add a base layer of crushed stone or decomposed granite. This base layer provides stability and helps with drainage, ensuring your lawn remains even and doesn’t develop bumps over time.
We compact the base layer to create a firm, smooth surface, which is key to a successful installation.
Step 4: Laying the Weed Barrier
We install a weed barrier over the compacted base to prevent weeds from sprouting up through your turf. The layer acts as an extra line of defense, keeping your artificial turf looking pristine without the nuisance of weeds.
Step 5: Rolling Out the Artificial Turf
With the groundwork complete, it’s time to roll out the artificial turf! We carefully position the turf to cover the entire area, ensuring it fits smoothly without wrinkles or bumps. Once it’s laid out, we trim the edges to fit your space, creating a seamless look.
Step 6: Securing the Turf
Next, we secure the turf to the base using landscape staples or nails around the edges and throughout the area. This step ensures the turf stays in place, even under heavy foot traffic.
Seams between pieces of turf are joined using special adhesive and seaming tape, creating a flawless, natural appearance.
Step 7: Adding the Infill
To keep the turf blades upright and give your lawn a natural look and feel, we add an infill material—usually made from silica sand or rubber granules. The infill provides cushioning, improves durability, and helps maintain the turf’s structure.
This step also enhances drainage and makes the surface comfortable for walking, playing, or lounging.
Step 8: Final Brushing and Inspection
The final step involves brushing the turf with a power broom to distribute the infill evenly and lift the blades for a natural appearance. We also inspect every part of the installation to ensure perfection.
Once this is complete, you’re left with a lush, green lawn that looks great and requires minimal maintenance.
